An update on Jeff Kisling’s work

Jeff Kisling participated in the 2018 First Nation Climate Justice Unity March (photo below of some of the marchers, taken in front of a DAPL facility), walking nearly 100 miles from Des Moines to Fort Dodge, Iowa, with thirty people along the route of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Dear Friends,

I’ve been following the development of storybooks on various platforms. And finally, there is a way for me to include my own photos. This is a link to my first one, which is about the work I’m involved with, helping to build the Indigenous-led Urban Resilience Hub in Iowa City.

Practicing hope,

I live on land that has been loved, worked, and stewarded long before I arrived. My choice to photograph—to witness and share the beauty and spirit of this place—is a form of reciprocity. The air, water, and land here are not just scenery; they’re relatives. May my images remind others to pause, to feel their own connection, and to act with care. May my lens also guide me to listen: What does this place need from me? How can my art become part of its healing?
