6 am meet at 3935 Ford St, Norwalk, Iowa 50211
There will be a break truck every 5 miles with water, snacks, and commodes, but be prepared to carry water and food between the breaks.
*The march is long, possibly hot, and will involve some traffic, but we would love to have you march with us for the day!
~ Des Moines Rally ~
The public is invited to gather at the intersection of 13th St and Locust St from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM on August 11th before we start the march. The intersection will be barricaded by the police.
4-5:30 pm Ice Cream Social Meet the Marchers Showcase at Ritual Cafe, 1301 Locust Street, #D, DSM, IA
5:30-6 pm Public continues to gather & mingle in front of Ritual Cafe to prepare for the procession (bring signs, banners, and friends!)
6-6:45 pm March with us 1.6 miles through downtown Des Moines to the West Terrace of the Iowa State Capitol Building!
6:45-7:45 pm Rally featuring Iowa Spirit Marchers Jeffrey Czerwiec, Village Mayor Miriam Kashia, and Founder Ed Fallon; Brenda Brink (Iowa CCI member and rural Huxley landowner), Climate Senator Rob Hogg (D-IA); Channing Dutton (Des Moines Citizens Climate Lobby); Denise O’Brien (Iowa Farmer Community Organizer), Angela Connolly (Polk County Board of Supervisors), Susan Guy (Iowa Interfaith Power & Light), and featuring music from the march’s Climate Justice Gypsy Band!

Overnight Information
There is a marcher in the home program for the 11th and the 12th of August. Marchers will meet their hosts after the evening rally. Margaret Vernon is in charge of this program. Please contact her if you can provide a place for marchers to stay.
Event Information
Lunch at Valley Junction
Location: 137 5th St West Des Moines
Time: 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Audience: Closed event for marchers. Public event details are below.
What: Lunch and local music will be provided. Tours of the building’s sustainable features will be presented. Before lunch begins, a photo schoot will occur.
Parking availability: there is an open lot behind the building.
Main Event
A procession and several key speeches with music will occur in downtown Des Moines from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm at the Des Moines Capitol. The procession will begin in the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, near Ritual Cafe , and will end at the State Capitol West Terrace.
MARCHER IN THE HOME:
Marchers will meet host families at Rally and WALK over to our Vehicles parked at: 855 East Court Ave. to retrieve their belongings.
