At various points along our route from Los Angeles to Washington, DC, the Great March for Climate Action schedules days off for the marchers and arranges for us to stay with host families in the community. I have decided to go gadget-free on the Great March for Climate Action.  No computer, no phone, no camera, not even a watch, and hardly ever even a glimpse at a television screen. We all woke up as dry as we could manage, it has been a damp couple of days.  Mack and I were cooking.  He has been in silence now for six days and we are having fun communicating.  We made oatmeal and put out veggies for lunch all with the wonderful help of our prep cooks. We are working to make sure the Climate Marchers have a place to sleep, people to meet along the way, and food to eat as they march across Nebraska. We want to show the marchers some Nebraska hospitality, and what better way to do so than a home-cooked pie? Or…300 home-cooked pies? An update from the med team! We are back to dealing with blisters again!  We got a break from them for awhile.  However, we have had a handful of new marchers since our rallies in Santa Fe and Taos, NM.  Some of the new marchers have joined the march because they saw a marcher on the road carrying a sign about the Climate March and were curious.  Generally, the new marchers have not had significant training prior to the march and feel compelled to walk Continue reading →
