Marching Gadget Free

(By Mary DeCamp) Ahhh, such freedom!  Oh, the strife! I have decided to go gadget-free on the Great March for Climate Action.  No computer, no phone, no camera, not even a watch, and hardly ever even a glimpse at a television screen. This choice is an odd one, I know.  It means I lose touch with friends and family and don’t get as much internet time as any normal 6-year-old in America does these days.  But it has given me a great gift as well: Continue reading →

Crossing into Colorado

(By Sean Glenn, written May 30th) Today we crossed into Colorado! We all woke up as dry as we could manage, it has been a damp couple of days.  Mack and I were cooking.  He has been in silence now for six days and we are having fun communicating.  We made oatmeal and put out veggies for lunch all with the wonderful help of our prep cooks. Seeing as it is Friday though, neither Mack nor I ate any of this food prepared.  Fast Friday!!! Continue reading →

300 Pie Challenge

We are working to make sure the Climate Marchers have a place to sleep, people to meet along the way, and food to eat as they march across Nebraska. We want to show the marchers some Nebraska hospitality, and what better way to do so than a home-cooked pie? Or…300 home-cooked pies? We need donations of fruit pies, meat pies, veggie pies, and any other kind of pie you can think of to help feed the marchers as they march through Nebraska in July. Join Continue reading →

Medical Team Update

An update from the med team! We are back to dealing with blisters again!  We got a break from them for awhile.  However, we have had a handful of new marchers since our rallies in Santa Fe and Taos, NM.  Some of the new marchers have joined the march because they saw a marcher on the road carrying a sign about the Climate March and were curious.  Generally, the new marchers have not had significant training prior to the march and feel compelled to walk Continue reading →

The Great Climate March: Santa Fe to Taos via the High Road, May 17-26, 2014

By Winter Ross “Pilgrimage: a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. Typically a journey to a shrine or other location of importance to a person’s beliefs and faith, although sometimes it can be a metaphorical journey into someone’s own beliefs.” Wikipedia I trudge breathlessly, head down, toward our next camp: the parking lot of El Santuario de Chimayo. A Roman Catholic Church and National Historic Monument in New Mexico, it is famous for miracles of healing. I look forward to baptising my feet Continue reading →
